Every family and group home or assisted living facility needs to be prepared to respond to a health emergency. This is not only true for neurotypical families but especially true for families with children and adults on the autism spectrum.
Threshold and NutriClinic have partnered with Zazitkova to provide families with appropriate first aid and life saving skills. Threshold, with more than forty years of providing adult day training programs, a primary and secondary school, and a residential program, had numerous urgent and emergent medical events occur.

Applied behavior analysis has a language all its own that has developed and matured over the past six decades. Threshold provides parent and sibling training programs that give you the opportunity to become "home experts" in implementing your child's behavior or education improvement plan. With more than four decades of experience, we have trained thousands of people, many with no experience in applied behavior. We are happy to offer these same workshops, with our Threshold training manuals that we perfected over the years. We are also able to review your care plans and assist you in training on your child's plan.

One of the more significant environments that non-behaviorally trained nurses and clinicians find themselves in is the admission of patients on the autism spectrum. During my years of leading the Threshold residential program, we had residents who were admitted to the hospital for several days. Nurses from the units would contact our agency to see if we could staff the facility while our resident was in-house. The difficult issue was always funding. Once the patient was admitted to their facility, all funds were cut off for the group home. Out of this necessity, we created a nurse behavior training program for teaching BBA (Basic Behavior Analysis), how to implement care plans and provide reinforcers for programs, and how to recognize and de-escalate self-injurious behaviors starting to escalate, and the effect of escalation versus de-escalation on the environment. Threshold is happy to offer workshops in your facility for groups of 12 to 24 nurses and unlicensed assistive personnel.
